About the Artist

Dwyllis Maggs lives in Whitby, NewZealand. She is a self-taught artist but you wouldn't know it. Her realistically rendered drawings of dogs (and cats) capture their very essence. Her work is notable for its fine detail and takes many hours to do. Her favourite medium is coloured pencil.

" Coloured pencils are sometimes seen as an inferior medium used for creating disposable art but the pencils are manufactured to very high standards."

Dwyllis has loved animals all her life (she became a vegetarian early on) and as a child made countless drawings of horses and dogs. She wants to draw as many dog breeds as possible. To date she has drawn terriers (West Highland and Jack Russell), English Mastiffs, Springer Spaniels, Golden Labradors, Black Labradors, German Shepherds (long and short-haired), a Rottweiler-cross and a couple of dogs of no particular breed. Her work sells in many countries including America.
